Web Design and Development guides users to subcategories which contain all resources and services having to do with designing, developing, maintaining, and promoting Web sites.

Sites which are incomplete, which have Under Construction notices, or which contain broken graphics or links have a poor chance of being listed. Please wait to submit your web site until it is complete. Please double-check the URL, and, if possible, include an e-mail address so we may contact you if we have questions. Duplicate submission (i.e. same site submitted repeatedly to single or multiple Web Design and Development categories) is not considered to be an acceptable practice by the Open Directory Project. If your site is submitted repeatedly, it may be removed from the Directory altogether.

All sites within Commercial Services are listed with the company name as the Title. Submissions to a Regional Web Design and Development category should include the business location in the description.

Designers and Developers:

We invite you to submit to the correct letter beneath the Designers subcategory beneath the Web Design and Development area alphabetically. Please submit to the appropriate subcategory, rather than to the main Web Design and Development category.

You may also submit the site to the appropriate category in the Regional tree.

If you provide more than one service (i.e. Hosting, Promotion, Marketing), be sure to mention each of the services in your description.

This category is for sites related to Web Accessibility only. Business related services can be found here: Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Accessibility/Companies_and_Consultants Sites for web usability can be found here: Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Web_Usability Sites for assistive technology (non-web related) can be found here: Society/Disabled/Assistive_Technology Other related categories are listed below.
Submission Notice: Please review the sites already listed in this category before making your submission. This may help you to create a more acceptable description and site title for the editor to review.

If your site is related to business activities (eg. Consultancy services), please submit your site to: Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Accessibility/Companies_and_Consultants

The component or service must be hosted on the servers of the site providing the component or service. Linkrot

The web is continuously changing: websites may disappear, they may be replaced by redirects to other sites or they change content. Links pointing to changed or disappeared websites break, or become incorrect because the content they were supposed to point to got lost. This phenomenon is called linkrot.

Companies offering commercial services such as site creation, graphic design, or website promotion should search for the proper sub-category from the Web Design and Development tree. Foreign-origin sites written in languages other than English should search for the proper sub-category from the World tree.

This category is for sites providing information or services relating to website promotion. This includes search engine placement, advertising, link exchanges and traffic marketing. PLEASE NOTE, most firms will fit into a subcategory of Promotion and WILL NOT be listed at this level.

Web site Design firms DO NOT belong in this category. If your site offers Design, Hosting and Promotion, please submit to the appropriate letter in the Designers section.

Search engine optimization and submission firms should be submitted to the appropriate letter in the Search Engine Optimization Firms section.

If you have a general marketing agency that goes beyond the scope of Internet marketing, please look for the appropriate subcategory in the Business: Marketing section.

Weblogs about web design and development.
This category is for weblogs about Web Design and Web Development. This is not the place for weblog-related sites such as hosts, scripts, or directories. For such sites, please begin looking for a more suitable category under Computers: Internet: On_the_Web: Weblogs. Personal weblogs should not be suggested to this category. They should go in the appropriate sub-category of Society: People: Personal_Homepages: Weblogs. (Even weblogs by web designers will not be listed here unless they are focused on web design issues, rather than being personal in nature.) Weblogs that focus on a particular aspect of web design, rather than having a broader covering should not be suggested here if there exists a category for that particular aspect, Please suggest your site under under that category; in a Weblogs sub-category should one exist, or in the main category if not. Finally, topically-focused weblogs dealing with subjects other than web design should be suggested under the most suitable category for their topic/subject; in a Weblogs sub-category should one exist, or in the main category if not. Suggesting inappropriate sites to this category will only delay their review and potential listing by editors.
Resources for web-page authors who want to make their sites easier for visitors to use.
