Nova Scotia is that peninsula which hangs off the edge of Eastern Canada. It is attached to New Brunswick by the Chignecto Isthmus and is very close to Prince Edward Island and Maine. The province actually consists of the peninsula just described and of Cape Breton Island which is to the north and attached via the Canso Causeway.
The capital city of Nova Scotia is Halifax. Other big cities are Sydney and Yarmouth.
Politically, Nova Scotia is divided into 18 Counties and 24 Rural Municipalities, plus incorporated towns, cities and Regional Municipalities.
