Developed by Sony Online Entertainment (formerly Verant Interactive), PlanetSide is the first massively multiplayer online first-person shooter (MMOFPS). Players assume a role as a soldier in one of three empires and either expand or defend that empire's interests, on a planetary scale.
PlanetSide was released May 20, 2003.
PlanetSide: Aftershock was released in October, 2003. It is a bundle of the original PlanetSide as well as the Core Combat expansion.
